What to Do if Being Bullied
What to Do if Being Bullied
If you are experiencing bullying, it's important to take these steps:
Stay Calm: Try not to react emotionally. Bullies often seek a reaction.
Reach Out: Talk to someone you trust—a parent, teacher, or counsellor.
Keep Records: Save messages or screenshots if the bullying happens online.
Set Boundaries: Politely but firmly tell the bully to stop if you feel safe doing so.
Self-Care: Engage in activities that make you feel good and supported.
How to Respond to Bullying
Report: Tell a trusted adult about the bullying. They can provide guidance and support.
Stay Safe: Avoid places or situations where bullying occurs, if possible.
Find Support: Surround yourself with friends or activities that boost your confidence.
Stand Up: If you witness someone being bullied, support them or seek help.
If Your Friend Is Being Bullied
Try to show up for them using these approaches:
Listen: Be there to listen without judgment. Let your friend express their feelings and experiences.
Offer Support: Reassure your friend that they are not alone and that you're there to help.
Encourage Action: Suggest reporting the bullying to a trusted adult or seeking help together.
Be a Companion: Accompany your friend to places where they feel unsafe, like walking home or to classes.
Taking Action
Report Together: Encourage your friend to report the bullying incident to a teacher, parent, or counsellor. Offer to go with them for support..
Document Evidence: Help your friend collect evidence such as screenshots or notes about the incidents.
