What is Depression ?
Sadness vs. Depression
It is normal to feel sad sometimes – we all do. Things like feeling lonely, people being mean, or something bad happening, can make us feel sad. When we feel sad, we might give up easily, find it harder to think, hide away from others or have less energy. We might feel like crying or get angry easily.
Depression
Depression is real illness. that can cause us to feel sad for weeks at a time. When we feel sad or numb and find it hard to change our mood, we might be depressed. You might notice it is hard to feel motivated, usual activities aren’t fun, and your appetite and sleeping patterns have changed. You also might get sad thoughts about yourself or others which can lead to worries, guilt or trust issues.
Depression and Suicidal Thoughts
Sometimes, depression makes us feel that life is pointless or too difficult to cope with. This can lead to thoughts of harm towards yourself. Depression can make us feel alone, but it’s important to remember it is never hopeless.
