Difficulties at Home
Sometimes there are big difficulties between grown-ups. Sometimes a parent or other grown up frightens, bullies, or hurts another grown up or parent in the family.
If this is happening in your house it is sometimes called ‘domestic violence’, or ‘domestic abuse’.
Domestic abuse can be lots of different things. If it is happening in your house, it will be very scary.
This can be hitting, pulling hair, shouting, blaming, or threatening. You might not see this, but you might hear it. This is still very scary.
You might see one grown up crying, or see that they’ve been cut. You might also see broken items. You might also see that one grown us feels very scared or quiet when they’re with another grown-up.
